A Simple Amharic Prayer

Something on all of our hearts was to do something for the little street children who beg or sell gum & come follow you when you walk down the street. We started taking pieces of fruit to give to them, but it's still such a heart wrenching situation as everything disappears & they're always there asking for more. Some of the older ones seem a bit hardened saying we only want money, give us etc. But Jesus showed us if we learned the salvation prayer in Amharic, we could pray with them & leave them something lasting. So off we

“Its like a giant Dumpsite.. without Jesus”

A longtime friend who owns a Restaurant, introduced me to his manager, a 19 year old young man, whom he had hired to manage the business. Instantly, he began to talk about all sorts of topics, the different cultures, governments, reasons for war, and effects of the world-wars and how they affected Africa. Then I asked him what his views were about there being anything more after this life. His response was: "I don't know. And if there is, I don't know wether I'll go up or down because of the things I've done. But if there was a God, I would

DRC Radio & TV

After we had our first national TV broadcast it became very clear that the number of people who wanted to hear our testimonies and learn the Word was too much to handle with one-on-one visits. So we organized a seminar that was going to be on the topic of faith and we were going to share some testimonies of how Jesus did incredible miracles through witnessing and through being faithful to just listen to His voice. There were about 300 people who attended that seminar. Towards the end we asked that every person who wanted to get a personal prayer would

Workshops for Architects

We met a group that works together in a company for Architecture/Engineering. The director of the company is the director and professor at the Architect University. We met them on our first visit to Addis and kept in touch. This time around, they asked us to have workshops with them in the office to teach them how to personally hear from the Lord, and how to witness, and use their company as a tool to reach others. Over the month we were there, many of them had started to hear from the Lord and were witnessing to their family,

Teaching at High School

We went to the south of Angola for one week to visit a family Sharon had known from the last trip. He had organized for us to go to the high school where he teaches "Bible knowledge" and gave us his teaching slot. For the whole time we were in Lubango, we went to the school everyday, and talked with 3-4 classes daily. One of the classes that they asked us to talk with was a group of "troubled" students. Many of these students, because of the war, had to start school late, and most of them

As soon as we arrived we started the daily radio broadcasts and television shows. We talked about lots of different topics, and usually the questions that would come up from people--since it was live--were able to engender new topics and that really related to and benefited the situation of the Congolese people at the time. I got a few SMSs from one girl in particular. We would get a lot of SMSs daily, but this one girl kept SMSing us again and again. So finally I arranged to meet her at the radio station after the show. When

When we started organizing the seminar, Jesus told us to ask the younger brother of our host and some of his friends to participate by doing a little action skit to make the seminar more lively. I had met a few of his friends. Two of them were Christians and they also wanted to learn how they could share their faith with others around them. But one in particular was always very distant in the beginning and he didn't really want to talk to us. One day he came up to me and he said, "Look, I'd like to

We arrived midday in Lubumbashi after a 14hr flight. We arrived a bit earlier than the scheduled arrival time so our friend was not there yet to pick us up. We had to go through customs on our own which usually is a very complicated ordeal as in the DRC they have special legal representatives in the airport that need to take your paperwork through to ensure you don’t get hassled. We prayed as we presented our papers and they asked us a few questions sternly like what we were doing here and what address were we staying

He had been living in South Africa for quite some time already & was just waiting for his girlfriend. He didn’t believe in God, and didn’t think there was any afterlife either. We gave them some literature and they started reading them intently. One of the youngest policemen walked up to me and said, “Look, I know Jesus and I love Him, but I don’t know if He

Upon arrival in Kigali, while waiting for our luggage, we struck up a conversation with a woman. Just as she started to walk away I heard Jesus say, “Pray for her!” I ran up to her and asked if I could say a small prayer for her. She was shocked but thankful and asked why I had done that. I asked her if she knew whether she was going to Heaven after this life, and she told us she

Flashflood Angola

It was our first day out in Angola, we had won lots of souls and were getting to know the city. As the day ended we noticed the clouds gathering and an ominous rumble. The Lord told Miguel and I to immediately get out of there. We asked how, and He said, “Hitch a lift!” So we stuck out our thumbs, and as soon as we had done so, a big car pulled up for us. The man inside the car motioned for us to step in quick because it was about to rain, and offered to drive us

While we were in Congo we also had a lot of miraculous protection, because there was a lot of discord between the army and the people. We were staying 150km outside of Lubumbashi, the main town in that area of eastern Congo. One day when we were on our way into Lubumbashi, the army was raiding one of the villages and putting everything to the ground, burning the huts and everyone was out on the street. The people were very angry. There were crowds and the first people they usually target in those kinds of situations were foreigners.
